Roe vs Wade Ruling

Response from Pastor Shawn

Church Family,

I want to share a few personal and pastoral words with you in light of the monumental decision reached by the supreme court.

HUMBLY REJOICE

As an adoptive dad, who cares deeply for the life of the unborn, I humbly rejoice in the renewed protection for those who cannot speak for themselves. I believe every human being is created in the image of God and, therefore, worthy of protection and care from the womb to the tomb.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)

BOLDLY LOVE & SERVE

As followers of Jesus, we must look for opportunities to boldly serve and lovingly support the needs of mothers, fathers, guardians, and children in our community. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a broken world in need of hope. Let us commit our life in a fresh way to care for those with unwanted pregnancies and undeniable challenges. I encourage you to prayerfully consider becoming a foster care parent, an adoptive family, invest in your local Women’s Care Medical Center, and look for ways to unleash compassion and generosity.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)

SINCERELY PRAY

In the weeks and months that follow, families, pastors, and leaders across our country will need your prayers. Pray for unity in the midst of division, peace in the midst of conflict, and hope in the midst of hopelessness. Prayer is never our last resort, it is rather our great privilege.

The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:5-7)

May we do so, all in the name of Jesus,

Pastor Shawn
